Last Day On Earth...

... What if today was your last day. How would you spend it?

Seriously now, think hard.

What would you do? Who would you spend your day with? Your closest friends, or serving strangers? Giving some money to a street beggar, or making fun of him with your friends. Would you volunteer your time to help others, or sit in your room all day playing video games (or sitting on social networks). I'm not saying that doing, or not doing, any of these things is either bad or good - I'm just curious what you would SERIOUSLY do if you knew that this was your last day on earth.

Think about what legacy you are leaving, with how you are currently living your life. Make some changes if necessary. How will people remember you. And most of all, what impact are you having on the world for Christ Jesus - because that is what truly matters.

I just watched a chapter video from Francis Chan's Crazy Love book series. (www.crazylovebook.com) He highlighted a few major things I thought worth noting.

"For by Him all things were created: things in Heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things were created by Him and for Him." Colossians 1:16

We are created BY GOD and FOR GOD. We are HIS WORKMANSHIP, created in Christ Jesus to do GOOD WORKS which GOD PREPARED FOR US TO DO (before we were even born)!

Instead of waking up everyday, just barely "making" it through the day, purpose to find out what things we were "made to do" for each new day. God has a specific reason and purpose for our existence... I challenge you, when you wake up tomorrow morning, to roll out of bed, get on your knees, and ask God to show you what your purpose is for living "today." Ask Him to reveal to you how you can impact someone's life for His Kingdom today (through His strength alone of course!). Start to live everyday with the perspective that you are still on earth, because God has a special purpose for you to fulfill.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Think for a minute, about the fact that TODAY could be the day that you die. Everyone dies. No one knows the day or hour in which their life will be taken from them. This LITERALLY might be the day that you pass away from this earth, and find yourself BEFORE ALMIGHTY GOD.

In light of that fact, (that this could be your last DAY/HOUR on earth) what changes do you NEED to make in the way that you live your life? How can you more effectively show the world that you are "set apart" for God?

We aren't guaranteed tomorrow... we say things like that ALL the time. Do we truly live like we believe it? As Chan said, "How can you afford NOT to think about God? You could literally see Him today... how does that impact the way you live your life?"

Food for thought: (again, pulled from Chan's video series)

1. Think about some people in your life who have died abruptly. What were some of their achievements in life and what were their regrets?

2. If today was the day you died, what would you regret and why? What can you change about your life today to avoid those regrets?

"Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with all your might, for in the grave, where you are going, there is neither working nor planning nor knowledge nor wisdom." (Ecclesiastes 9:10)

"So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God." (1 Corinthians 10:31)
